"I want to celebrate Jill because she manifests the essence of what makes this place interesting to me. For centuries, Spitalfields has been celebrated for artisan culture and Jill embodies this tradition."

Jill Green is a designer and printmaker based in London. Originally from Yorkshire, she studied Graphic design at Glasgow School of Art and moved to London to work as a Graphic designer. A short course in screen printing reignited an enthusiasm for hands on drawing, designing and making and she set up her studio on Brick Lane on 2004 where she combined printing commissions with her own work including prints, stationery, leatherwork and textiles, which she sold at art fairs, and markets across London and the UK.
Jill’s range of products has expanded and developed to reflect her interest in drawing, colour and craftsmanship. Screen printing still forms the basis of all her work. Her technique can range from subtly coloured gradients and blends to bold, expressive colour schemes. She prints on paper, canvas, natural fabrics, leather and suede. Texture and finish are all important, and all work is printed by hand in her studio.
Much of the inspiration for Jill’s work comes from her collection of vintage animal, bird and nature books and anthologies.
